Product Description

Socket Cap Screws are reliable and durable and are used in many applications. They are available in a variety of head styles and materials.Alloy Steel is steel that has been alloyed with other materials to improve overall physical properties. Steels are designated by a 4 number SAE Steel grade. The first two digits indicate the primary materials used to form the steel. The last 2 digits identify the percentage of carbon for the alloy (in hundredths). Tensile strength ranges for the alloys typically used in these fasteners range from 170,000 to 180,000 psi (pounds per square inch), making these amongst the strongest of materials. With a high cylindrical head, socket cap head fasteners have a recessed driving area and offer high hold power at high torque levels. Hex socket drive systems are driven by hex wrenches or power tools with hexagonal bits. A threaded fastener's size name includes information about the major external diameter (in millimeters), followed by the thread pitch (millimeters per thread), which indicates if it is coarse or fine. Fine threads are preferable when working with harder materials or when threading into a thin material. They are also stronger in tension than coarse threads, and generally provide higher shear strengths.

Product Features

Socket Cap Screws are durable and reliable

Alloy Steel is one of the strongest materials used in fasteners, making this an ideal material to use when the primary concern is the application pulling apart

Socket cap head fasteners are very common in industrial applications

Drive system is a hexagon-shaped hole

Coarse threads are better for brittle materials, and will assemble and disassemble more quickly than fine threads

These are high quality black oxide finished metric hardware. If you are reading this page, it is because you need something fairly specific. These come "well-coated" in oil, in a clearly labeled box (at least the ones I ordered from Brighton Best did). They are stronger (less bendable, and withstand more torque/shearing force) than the stainless hardware I replaced. They are fully threaded, and the threads are well-cut and clean. The finish is fairly nice, but probably not suitable for outdoor environments. I am buying more of these in another size, and will preferentially order the Brighton Best ones, as they are of higher quality than the no-name ones I ordered previously. I am providing this review because I hate shopping for "commodity" items due to the challenge of finding good ones from the many options. As with all of my reviews, I paid full price for this item, and have evaluated it based on my opinion of its value.I was putting together a fake wicker outdoor set and stripped one of the screws that came with the set. I decided to try these instead and they were much better. I did not have any issues with any other attachment points. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, I have also received partially threaded screws (M5x35mm), indicated by the PT on the box. The site labels these as fully threaded. There is appoximately 22.5mm of threading and 12.5mm of unthreaded area. The other boxes of screws (M5x10mm, M4x12mm) of shorter lengths that I received were actually fully threaded and had FT on the box.Out of 3 M5x10mm boxes received, 2 of them were bagged in oil while the last one was just boxed without a bag.Perfect size for my motherboard with the aluminum drone risers I bought to use as standoffs in my custom built pc case, I did use 1mm washers on either side, but board and screws worked wonderfully togetherthe bolts are awesome. you get 100 for the price i would normally get only 8 of them. Only thing i didnt like is that in the picture, the head is not very large, and looks just like the bolts i needed. however, the ones i received didnt look like the picture and the bolt head was much larger. not too big of a deal, just had to grind it down a little so it would fit.Needed a small amount of fasteners for my 3D printer, but the M3 ones are so expensive at HD. I now have more than I will ever need, but I still ended up paying less. It is not fully threaded. The photo on Amazon did not show it fully threaded, but from the earlier comments it seems that the original photo showed a fully threaded screw. There is a light coating of oil left over from the machining operation but it wipes off easily. They look very nice, I really like the finish. I bought about 20 different metric screws just so I would have them around. About half of them were from "Brighton Best". I realized almost immediately that I preferred Brighton over the others. Everything about them seems superior.. even the packaging (which I admit, is a weird thing to notice). "Brighton Best" has secured a spot on my list of favorite brands.Great set of budget socket cap screws. They are a bit oily and messy, but for the price, they can't be beat. Be aware that some screw lengths are not fully threaded all the way up to the top.If these were listed as half thread, and I actually needed half thread, this would get 5 stars. Needed full thread and got half thread so one star for being misleading and wasting my time.
