The 18-8 stainless steel machine screw has a plain finish and a flat head with a Phillips drive, and meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME B18.6.3 specifications. The 18-8 stainless steel material provides strength and offers good corrosion resistance in many environments. The material may be slightly magnetic. The Phillips drive has an x-shaped slot that accepts a Phillips driver and is designed to allow the driver to slip out of the head to help prevent over-tightening and damage to the thread or fastener. The flat head is cone shaped for use in countersunk holes and has a flat top that fits flush with the mated surface. Machine screws are threaded fasteners that are typically used with nuts or drilled and tapped (threaded) holes. Machine screws are available with a variety of head shapes, which determine how the screw interacts with the mating surface, and drive styles, which determine the type of driver required to install and remove the screw.

Love how long these areAs described in the drawing in the photos of the screws I purchased, fastener lengths are given under the head. The Over All Length of the 4-40 x 5/16(.312) screws I was sent was .303 OAL should have been about 3/8. The difference is small but these are very small screws so they will not work for me.Excellent screw as advertisedThese are good quality Stainless Steel and were what I needed. I needed a small screw that was slightly longer than what I had but I still ended up having to shave just a touch off to make it fit. Not a problem with the product - just a problem with what I needed to fit to such a tight standard. This is not as good as the stainless steel nuts I purchased. These are slightly attracted to a strong magnet while the nuts were not. They are advertised as the same material but based on my test I doubt it. We will see how good the are against corrosiongood product that is not readily obtainable at local hardware storesSpecs are accurate. Not 316 stainless. Please check 'helpful' if this helped, thanks!Description and one photo is of flat-head. Other photo is of under-cut flat head. Received under-cut.Fantastic price and nice screws.. No issues at all!So difficult to find a 2 3/4" machine screw for some reason! These were perfect, delivered fast.Price was much much better at the local fastener store when i needed more.
