The 18-8 stainless steel machine screw hex nut has a plain finish and meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME B18.6.3 specifications. Designed for use with machine screws, the nut has a flat top with a large bearing surface and chamfered corners. It has six flat sides that a wrench can grip to turn from the side, enabling use when there is no space above the nut. The 18-8 stainless steel material provides strength and offers good corrosion resistance in many environments. The material may be slightly magnetic.Nuts are internally threaded fasteners that are used with bolts and threaded rods and studs to connect components. Several different nut styles fit a variety of application and installation requirements. Some styles, such as hex nuts, acorn nuts, flange nuts, and coupling nuts, must be tightened with a tool. Others, such as eye nuts, thumb nuts, and wing nuts, can be tightened by hand. Some nuts have a self-locking mechanism, such as a nylon patch or distorted threads, that makes them suitable for applications with a high amount of vibration.

These are smaller than the SAE/ANSI sizing, which means if you have something with a pre-cut hole for the nut, they'll spin in place rather than engage correctly. I see the seller has now corrected their listing title, thank you. They're stainless steel nuts. Like we all wish we had. Work perfect for my application. They're nuts, and they fit.I just got these nuts and being excited olwill order more immediately! For my project (small robot) these nuts are best of the best I could find on the market. The hex nut fit the screw as expected. I had a large number of 5/16 bolts with 18 threads per inch. With these nuts, I can now use the bolts when needed.hard to find small machine screws without paying hardware store prices. price was good. service was good. very good purchase. These work on any #4-40 machine-screw to give you the reliability of a non-reacting metal nut.
