Product Description

Socket Cap Screws are reliable and durable and are used in many applications. They are available in a variety of head styles and materials.Alloy Steel is steel that has been alloyed with other materials to improve overall physical properties. Steels are designated by a 4 number SAE Steel grade. The first two digits indicate the primary materials used to form the steel. The last 2 digits identify the percentage of carbon for the alloy (in hundredths). Tensile strength ranges for the alloys typically used in these fasteners range from 170,000 to 180,000 psi (pounds per square inch), making these amongst the strongest of materials. With a high cylindrical head, socket cap head fasteners have a recessed driving area and offer high hold power at high torque levels. Hex socket drive systems are driven by hex wrenches or power tools with hexagonal bits. A threaded fastener's size name includes information about the major external diameter (in millimeters), followed by the thread pitch (millimeters per thread), which indicates if it is coarse or fine. Coarse threads are better when working with brittle materials; they are sturdier and are easier to thread and unthread compared to fine. Coarse threading also allows for thicker coatings and platings.

Product Features

Socket Cap Screws are durable and reliable

Alloy Steel is one of the strongest materials used in fasteners, making this an ideal material to use when the primary concern is the application pulling apart

Socket cap head fasteners are very common in industrial applications

Drive system is a hexagon-shaped hole

Coarse threads are better for brittle materials, and will assemble and disassemble more quickly than fine threads

These are high quality black oxide finished metric hardware. If you are reading this page, it is because you need something fairly specific. These come "well-coated" in oil, in a clearly labeled box (at least the ones I ordered from Brighton Best did). They are stronger (less bendable, and withstand more torque/shearing force) than the stainless hardware I replaced. They are fully threaded, and the threads are well-cut and clean. The finish is fairly nice, but probably not suitable for outdoor environments. I am buying more of these in another size, and will preferentially order the Brighton Best ones, as they are of higher quality than the no-name ones I ordered previously. I am providing this review because I hate shopping for "commodity" items due to the challenge of finding good ones from the many options. As with all of my reviews, I paid full price for this item, and have evaluated it based on my opinion of its value.
