The stainless steel machine screw has a plain finish and a flat head with a Phillips drive. Stainless steel resists corrosion and may be magnetic. The Phillips drive has an x-shaped slot that accepts a Phillips driver and is designed to allow the driver to slip out of the head to help prevent over-tightening and damage to the thread or fastener. Had issues finding the right thread for a project I was working on. (these were not the correct thread) though it's no fault of the screw. Being that my local hardware store buys junk screws and the correct ones they actually had would not work because they had a burr on them.....causing me to believe I needed 48 threads per inch instead of the 40 per inch and spend money needlessly on these. Though these seem to me like good quality made screws and I do projects all the time and will make use of them.A good price for a stainless 1-72 flathead. What else is there to know? They work!For what you're getting this is absolutely perfect. To be specific, I used this as a replacement for the screws I received from Gladiator Joe's HP 25es VESA adapters. I stripped off the machine screws for the VESA adapter so I used this instead and it was a perfect fit. And you get so much in case you strip these as well.Came in a package identical to McMaster Carr, but cheaper.Number 5-40 1/4 flat head screws fit the D104 Astatic Microphone base perfectly.mistook them for finish nails initially. the picture is deceiving. not enough information.amazon completely sent me the wrong size screws and labeled them with the size i had ordered. i got fatter shorter screws than what i needed.i cant rate the product as of now since i dont have the correct screws i need. beware and check your items!will update my review once i receive the correct screws from amazon.**update: amazon customer service replaced my screws the next day!! Very happy with the purchase!
